Does face recognition work on photos in cold storage?

No — and that's deliberate. Cold storage is a backup-only tier: it keeps your files safe and shareable, but it doesn't run album AI or guest matching. So if you move an old event to cold storage, guests can't self-serve their photos from it anymore — it's purely an archive. If you need the AI experience for an event again, the album needs to live in hot storage. Think of cold as the storage room and hot as the showroom; only the showroom has the fancy lighting.
